I’ve never put out an open Q & A before, because, quite honestly, I was afraid no one would ask me anything! And maybe that’s the case, but I thought I’d put the offer out there—if there’s anything you’d like to ask me, just leave your question in the comments and I’ll post the answer on Monday.
Also, with my new Other Stuff Thursday post, I’m putting the call out for other bloggers who’d like to guest post. If you’d like to guest post on my blog, let me know in the comments.
I’d also like to feature book trailers on Thursdays, so if you have a favorite book trailer you’d like to suggest (and yes, it can be for your own book!) let me know.
I came across this pop-up book of Alice in Wonderland (thanks to JJ ) Incredible. How does one get the job to design kids pop-up books, anyway?
Happy weekend, everyone!
I'm author ELLE STRAUSS and welcome to my website!
I write fun, lower Young Adult (teen) fiction to do with whimsical things like time-travel, fairies and merfolk.
When my serious side peeks out, she's called LEE STRAUSS. She likes to write upper YA about real things that have happened in the past, or made up things that could quite possibly happen in the future.
This blog is about books, mine and other fab authors', but occasionally I'll share about other topics.
Thanks for dropping by!

How 'dangerous' is it for a beginning author to try to market a series? Should they have a 'choice' of endings for the first novel?
ReplyDeleteHi! Is writing your only job or do you have a "Bacon" job, as I've heard it called before...something that brings home the bacon?? LOL! And if you do have a job aside from writing, what is it?? Is it based on creativity???
ReplyDeleteIf you need/want book trailers, here is mine: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SwapLeZQqw8
You'd mentioned on my blog that you have a mirror site on Live Journal. Could you tell us why you did that and how you make it work, technologically speaking?
ReplyDeleteElle,
ReplyDeleteHere's something I've wondered for a while now...why do you have your blog on two locations? (Blogspot and LiveJournal).
Also, I'd love to be considered for your book trailer Thursdays. Mine can be found on my website, on the left sidebar, labeled "My Book Trailer". (My contact information is there as well if you need it)

Hi Elle!
ReplyDeleteHow do you cope with the stress of sales? I'm forever worrying I won't sell enough copies, and that it will affect my career going forward.
Thanks!
Elle,
ReplyDeleteHere's the direct link to my book trailer to make things easier...

Do you believe in one-sentence pitches, or loglines? If so, I'd love to hear yours!
ReplyDeleteElle: The person who designed the pop-up-book has talent, indeed. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteElle: I am having my first book published called Jewels of Wisdom and can't afford their publicity package. I am on my own - any suggestions? Look forward to reading your blog.
ReplyDeleteWhat specifically do you do to build your blog? How important is your blog to marketing your present or future books?
ReplyDeleteI did a Q&A on wednesday, too. You've got more questions than I do, so you had nothing to worry about! :) Hmmm, what do you eat while you're writing? And do you listen to music while you write, if so, what?
ReplyDeleteWow, you've got some great questions here Elle. Can't wait to read your answers :)

I've never done a book trailer. I figure maybe once I'm published!
ReplyDeleteAges ago on the Today Show, I saw an author of childrens books who did the pop up art himself. Alice in Wonderland is amazing.
ReplyDeleteYou have really good questions. Sorry I haven't been by for awhile, I've been sick.

I have a friend self-publishing a children's novel ( http://www.astwood.org.uk ). She's interested in also releasing this as an ebook. Do you have any suggestions or tips about this?
ReplyDeleteShe's worried about people taking and sharing her work. Any advice about that?
Thanks,
Chris
Where did you grow up?
