Last week D.L Hammons suggested that I do another vlog talking about the evolution of my cover for my YA novel, Clockwise. I thought that was an interesting idea, especially since so many have asked me about the cover, so here it is!
(sorry about the background buzz. not sure why that's there.)
What do you think? Any questions for me?
Here are the websites of the people mentioned in the vlog.

Nico Boesten (new website to come)
Norm Strauss (btw, free music to be found there under Songs tab)
About Me
- Elle Strauss
- I write Young Adult and Middle Grade fiction. I'm a married mom of four, and live in the beautiful Okanagan Valley, famous for beaches and vineyards. I'm fond of Lindt's sea salt dark chocolate and hiking in good weather. My Young Adult rom/com time-travel CLOCKWISE series and contemporary/otherworldly Middle Grade IT'S A LITTLE HAYWIRE are now available on Amazon.
See, I was right! The evolution of the book cover and seeing just how collabortative the whole process was, is really interesting stuff (to me). I hope everybody else enjoys it as well. You did a fantastic job of narrating the process and have at least one satisfied customer! :)
ReplyDeleteI've never done a vlog but have thought about it. I'm afraid I'd feel like an idiot, monologuing. how do you get around that?
ReplyDeleteDefinitely interesting! I'm amazed how close the final cover is to your daughter's original design. I hope she's going to do more design work; she's good!
ReplyDeleteDL - thanks for the push. It was actually kind of fun.
ReplyDeleteTamara- I didn't think I'd ever do one either. Then I was invited to guest vlog at Jenni James's Secret Writing Tips. It was weird talking to myself in the laptop, but I just tried to picture myself talking to a roomful of students. The great thing is that you can edit all the awkward moments out, and you don't have to share it in the end if you don't want to. The second time was definitely easier. Give it a shot!
Amo- glad you enjoyed it!
What a journey, Elle! Wow! The finishing product shows it. It's wonderful!
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job with the vlog. It was also very informative. Thank you for sharing and thanks to DL for providing you with the encouragement.
ReplyDeleteHey! A vlog!!! Look at Elle! Talking and sounding so professional. I hear your Canada! ;p j/k This is awesome. Covers are such a big deal. Thanks for sharing your links! And you're right, those promo shots are very nice. Kim does a good job. So sweet that Tassia drew your cover--aww!
ReplyDeleteVery exciting about the new PB edition~ <3
Yahoo - very exciting Elle. Can't wait to read the book all the way through. Good on ya!!
