1) I got my first big author blurbage for Clockwise, which I'm completely stoked about. This is it:
"I loved Clockwise! A great read, and I love your Casey/Cassandra. Congratulations."
- Wendy Orr, author of Nim's Island
(Nim's Island!)
It was due to a serendipitous meeting on twitter plus the fact that Wendy is just a super nice, down to earth person.
2) CLOCKWISE IS FREE TODAY on Amazon, the last day of five days. I've spent most of that time in the top 100 of the kindle free store, which I'm quite happy about. There are a lot of advantages to free promotion, and I have to attribute #1 on this list in part to that.
3) You don't get a review like this everyday: Banning the bullsh*t. Thanks to Saffi for that.
4) I'm busting my braincells working on ClockwiseR, the sequel to Clockwise.

The thing about indie pubbing is you GET to do everything yourself and the other thing about indie pubbing is you HAVE to do everything yourself.
Another thing I'm learning as an indie pubber is that things always take more time than you schedule for them. And that there are a lot of things. SR Johannes has an excellent post for writers considering indie publishing that will scare the pants off you.
How about you? Are you good at pacing your writing tasks?

Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI seriously need to do a little more planning for my revision stage.
Thanks!
DeleteCongratulations on the author blurb! That's fantastic, and well-deserved. And congratulations also on being in the top 100 on Amazon - also fantastic and well-deserved!
ReplyDeleteThank you! So nice of you to say.
DeleteI try to be but I'm pretty sure there will be setbacks along the way! Things that take longer than I thought.
ReplyDeleteTrue and true :)
DeleteWhoa ... what is that mess all your floor? LoL. I love what happens to my life when I'm knee deep in edits/writing/revising/pretty much anything writing related.

I'm thankful my cat's too old to car about all that paper on the floor :)
DeleteCongratulations on the blurb and the success!! Wonderful news.
ReplyDeleteAnd I hear you on the semi-regular panic attacks. And I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one. :)
Thanks and thanks also for the RTs on twitter! So appreciated.
DeleteAnd no, you're not the only one :)
Amazing blurb and review! Congrats!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks. I'm thrilled.
DeleteAmazing blurb! I do my best to juggle writing and editing and revising. I must say though that I've cut way back on promoting last year and it reflected in sales.
ReplyDeleteInteresting note on your sales. Shows we can't let up on that if we want to keep selling, I guess.
Deletesomewhat good. At the moment I'm trying to balance the revisions with the paying gigs. Not fun. I feel like you with the plates! :D
ReplyDeleteBut ROCK ON! With the blurb from Wendy Orr! How great that must've made you feel. Yay!!! :o) <3 ((hugs))
Those paying gigs are important too :)
DeleteI totally feel like the lady in the cartoon! Congrats on Clockwise rising up the charts and doing so fantastic. I'm super happy for you!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Heather!
DeleteI just finished reading Clockwise and can't wait for book two! Being on Amazon's top 100 free kindle ebooks helped me find you :) Keep up the great work! You'll definitely have more readers like me- enthusiastic about what adventure Casey will have next!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you found Clockwise! Watch for book 2, ClockwiseR, in May!
DeleteI've got Clockwise on my queue and am excited about getting to it very soon. Bot it before it was free so hope that's okay :-)
ReplyDeleteYou've got lots going on and so wonderful that you got that big name endorsement of Clockwise.
So stoking!
Hope you enjoy Clockwise when you get to it. Yes, getting that endorsement was a nice surprise :)
DeleteI'm so-so, with a lot of room for improvement. I have been seriously working on that lately.
ReplyDeleteDo for you. Thanks for dropping by!
DeleteI know why Clockwise is getting such good blurbs - it's because it's so good! I totally agree about things taking longer than I think they will. I'm doing a better job of building in that extra time, but I'm not all the way there yet. Now I'm clicking over to get my pants scared off.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Carol! So, did you lose your pants?
