Links of the week!
1) Indie resources on the Indelible site. Looking for an editor or cover artist or other indie pubbing need? Check out this resource.
2) The Kodak bankruptcy has publishing peeps talking. If it could happen to film (and music) could it happen to publishing? Rachelle Gardner weighs in on her three part series, Do You Know What Business Your In, Do You Know Your Customer, and Are We Ready For Change?; Lilly White LeFevre writes an Open Letter to Big Publishing; and Kristen Lamb has a few choice words and recommendations for NY as well.
3) For those of who publish through Amazon, here is food for thought by Mark Williams. We're not getting 70% royalty, we're being charged 30% distribution fee.
4) Zoe Winters weight in on e-book prices and her philosophy re: bargain books. (I honestly don't know where I stand with this one, but it's interesting to hear her perspective)
5) What is Penguin up to now? The trend for publishers to boycott Overdrive (and library e-books).
Happy Weekend, everyone!

ReplyDeleteOoh, that 5th point, that's got my blood boiling. The utter stupidity of it... (of the publishers attitudes, I mean, not of you for posting about it! :))
ReplyDeleteI agree! So greedy...
DeleteThe Kodak bankruptcy was on the cards when they didn't invest in digital technology.
ReplyDeleteAnd yet I've read that they're credited for creating the digital camera. Someone dropped the ball.
DeleteI've heard some stuff about Kodak, and it definitely makes you wonder. I need to go check out the link for Penguin though, haven't heard about that one yet...
ReplyDeleteExcellent links, thank you!
